Mr. Yoshikazu Tanabe___Tanabe Glass Processing Factory

Edo Cut Glass of today was started in 1834(5th year of Tenpo) by Kyuubei Kagaya who was the owner of glass shop in Oodenma-cho, Edo. He invented the techiniques of engraving the surface of glass by using emery. Mr. Tanabe's factory respects the traditions, but at the same time to answer the needs of customers, arranges the products in modern design.

Mr. Haruo Katayama___Katayama Paulownia Chest of Drawers Store

Paulownia wood is light weight and bright color, less expanding / contracting or cracking, and prevents moisture. This Paulownia chest uses the Paulownia wood on every parts. Carving the Kiri made products and wrapping the carved part with cloth(This processing technique is called Kimekomi). The surface of Kiri products are of sober colors, but colorful patterns and pictures are drawn on it by this technique. With coloring, the products become more elegant art masterpiece. Due to the westernizing of lifestyle, products with both Japanese and Western style such as western chest and remote controller case are developed, and still live within living space of today.

Rasps are manufactured since early years of Edo without big change in its shape . The copper made blades which were made by hand are really sharp, so it would not break the cells and structure of radish when grounded. The radish grounded with this hardware contains water and nutrition, and improves the flavor. There are grounding hardware for Wasabi(Japanese horse radish),ginger, etc which has subtle differences in size of blade.
